Thank you for purchasing SPROG II, The DCC Decoder Programmer.
Please take the time to read through these instructions fully before attempting
to install or use your SPROG II.
The following steps are required to install SPROG II before you can use it for the first time:
- Install the Java Runtime Environment (JRE)
- Install DecoderPro
- Connect the Power Supply
- Install SPROG II USB drivers
- Edit DecoderPro preferences
- Connect the Programming Track
These instructions refer mainly to the Windows or MacOS operating system but the same
basic principles apply to other operating systems.

Before you begin you will need:
- A SPROG II and appropriate cable (typically USB supplied)
- A 12-15V regulated DC power supply (as supplied, 12v 1.25A)
- Java Runtime software (included on this disc)
- JMRI software (included on this disc)
- USB drivers (included on this disc)
Note: To read some of the installation instructions, you will require Adobe
Acrobat Reader to be installed on your system. If you do not already have Acrobat Reader
installed, it may be installed from here:

Before you can use your SPROG II for the first time you need to install
a number of software components. SPROG II
requires the Java runtime environment (JRE) and JMRI, which includes DecoderPro.
In addition, the USB SPROG II requires USB drivers to be installed.
